Mpwapwa Secondary School was established by the Germans before the First World war as a Germany Military School up to 1918, when the British Conquered the Germans and took the administration of the school. It was from Standard 5 to 8. (Middle school)
From 1926 British Colonial rule changed the school to become a school for the sons of chiefs to prepare black personnel to assist the colonial administrators.
Then the school started to provide education as a Secondary School for the British Government.
After independence the school was taken by the Tanganyika government and started to run Government Curriculum as from form I to IV; In 2000 Advanced classes started for the boys and girls.
Then the School started to provide special Education for the people with blindness, Albinism and low vision.
